About Ricardo Montaner:
Singer of poems and poet of songs, Ricardo Montaner was born in Buenos
Aires, Argentina but raised in Venezuela. As a child, he demonstrated his
talented voice while participating in the church choir. After singing with
pop and rock groups, his career as a soloist began in 1987 when he
released his self- titled album with songs such as “Yo que te amé” and
“Vamos a dejarlo.” Montaner continued his success with his second album
“Ricardo Montaner 2” in which he included popular hits such as “Tan
enamorados” and “A donde va el amor.” With his following albums he was
able to conquer fans in México, Central and South America with “La cima
del cielo,” “Me va a extrañar,” “Déjame llorar” and “Será,” among others.
Montaner accomplished expanding his horizons as a
composer by creating the Spanish version of the song “A whole new world,”
which was the theme song for Disney’s animated movie “Aladdin.” The
songwriter has sold over 22 million albums worldwide with records such as
“Es así,” “Con la London Metropolitan Orchestra Vols. 1 & 2,” and most
recently, his Grammy nominated “Todo y nada.” For this last album,
Montaner has received two nominations for the 2006 Latin Grammys: Best Pop
Vocal Male Album and Song of the Year for the first single “Cuando a mi
lado estas.” Without a doubt, Ricardo Montaner continues to be one of the
most powerful and talented voices in Latin music, and an icon in modern
romantic music in Spanish Pop.
About the Loew’s Paradise Theater:
The Loew's Paradise Theatre opened its doors in 1929 during the
glorious vaudeville era with a capacity for over 3,500 people. Originally,
Paramount Pictures planned it as a showplace like no other in the Bronx
and as a sister to the New York Paramount. The theatre has been designated
a landmark both by its exterior and interior and will remain so until the
end of time for new generations to enjoy. The Loew's Paradise Theater is
one of the most impressive New York City theatres.
After 65 years of providing entertainment and a venue
for many graduations, the Loew's Paradise closed in 1996. It was
considered "Paradise Lost" and would never see the light of day due to
threats of being demolished. However, this was not meant to be and today,
the Loew's Paradise Theatre just celebrated it's 1st re-opening
anniversary (October 2005) for a 77 year old Bronx entertainment mecca
ready to attract new and old audiences alike to enjoy.
Formerly an opera house with a unique structure and
design, the theater is one of the most spectacular and grandiose venues in
New York. The Paradise Theater represents a new step in the renaissance of
the Bronx as a vital center for social, cultural and economic growth.
